Lentil Goo


 
So this is a classic no-budget lentil mush that pleases every time. Enough for 4 bowls. It will help you forget your loneliness- or at least accept it.

 1 cup red lentils
1/2 cup rice (most any kind will do)
1 veggie bouillon cube
heaping 1/2 tsp garlic powder
heaping 1/2 tsp salt
heaping 1/2 tsp basil
2 chopped up carrots
2 stalks celery; chopped up
1 tbsp olive oil
3 cups water


Put everything in a medium size pot, bring to a boil, stirring so it doesn't get stuck to the bottom.
When it boils, cover it and turn the burner down to min. Simmer covered for 23-25 minutes then eat it.
Best eaten with hot sauce and some kind of fruit (mango) chutney

  1. This is my all time favourite bachelor chow. A Cris classic ^_^. For some reason I think it tastes like KFC's 11 secret herbs and spices - even though there are only 3. Maybe its because I haven't been in a KFC in decades ? Some body try it and tell me I'm not in the grips of a olfactory phantasmagoria here !
